Volume also records account of Manning's expenses, 1835, for travel, lodging, goods and services while serving in the U.S. House; listing "expenses incurred since the 10th Dec. 1835 on way and at Washington," with expenditures for both goods (such as "ice creams" boots, "oranges [for] servant," and "ladies shoes," etc.) and for labor and services (washerwoman, hair cut, chambermaid)
